Location
Very small room
-
Location was fantastic, helpful staffs, clean bathrooms
Poor lighting
-
The staff was excellent, the place felt secure, and quite decent cleanliness. (No bugs or pests)
It was shared bathroom, and I knew this, this was not an issue at all..but I found the bathroom really cold, not enough place for people to put their clothes in a non dirty place, and slippery floor that got dirty fast. I just found it hard to get dressed without dirtying something..especially my feet. For an improvement, I'd love for the bathroom to have some heat, and to install some little area where you can properly change.
-
It's quite clean. The location is about 3 or block from the subway..
shower in the bathroom is not convenience, no breakfast, it's in the third floor without elevator or escalator.
-
It is much different to other hostels as it has the design and look of a much smarter place. It also offers the chance to have a private room for a bargain price - even though they are very small rooms!! But who wants to sit in a bedroom all day in nyc anyway!!
Perhaps that the bathrooms were not very big, but it certainly didn't spoil the experience. Perhaps if each cabin/room had a mirror mounted on the wall?

The price was reasonable for staying in Manhattan
The cabin is awfully small and my bedroom linen wasn't clean. On saturday somebody decided to throw a party at the garden upstairs, which made the hotel extremely loud and impossible to sleep. There were actually people having sex in the bathroom and others speaking very loudly at the corridors. Talk about an awful night

The staff was very helpful during my stay. The original cabin with a window was a good room to stay in. The location is really nice. There are a lot of cool restaurants and botiques closeby
The single rooms are ridiculously small, im 5'3" and it was tight. There were no true ceilings and u could hear your neighbor. A bit annoying. If youre not goingbto staybin the hotel much and are flexible about space, it should be fine. Dont bring too much luggage, it wont fit in the room!

The staff is very nice and helpful. Very good experience... I'll definitely go back to The Bowery House.

The Bowery House is a really nice place to stay. The staff is always helpful, the rooms and bathrooms are clean, which for me was very important. The bed was also very comfortable, though a little bit short, but that I knew already before going there. :) Nice experience. Would recommend it for sure.
What I didn't like: the noises in the morning. But that's already the guests issue. As there are no normal ceiling, you can actually here every single thing from you neighbors' rooms. So, people could just think more about others - not to shout, or not to slam door at 6 am.

Hotel is well secured and truly a value for money. Its the best you can ever have in ny if you are on budget.
Hate the stairs. No staff to help you so do not use this hotel if you have asthma or heart problems. The stairs are horrible as in very horrible!!!

It's cheap and in a good location
the "room" is small, the bed is small, can be quite noisy

It's in a fantastic location at the end of Spring Street. You can walk out to some of New York's coolest shops, restaurnats and bars. It's super cheap and I felt safe as a female on my own. The night security man is lovely.
Fistly there is no bar on the roof. The rooms didnt have a ceiling. They are like cupboards with garden lattice for ceilings and there are rows of the them so no windows. There are dim light bulbs in the narrow passageways between the rows of rooms/cupboards. It's a bit like a horror movie! I stayed 5 nights & yes saved money but never again. I lost 2 days of my holiday from being exhausted from lack of sleep. Everytime someone rolls over, scratchs, coughs, you hear them like they are next to you. I tried to stay out all night & sleep in the day to compensate. Not worth it.
